Traditional Moussaka Spice mince mix - 1kg (10kg Batch) Gluten Free

A blend of herbs and spices to create the perfect authentic tasting moussaka mince.
Ingredients
- Lean Mince - 400g
- Moussaka Mince Mix - 100g
- Water or stock - 300ml
- 2 large Aubergines - sliced
- 1 onion - finely chopped
- 550g potatoes - peeled and sliced
- 200g chopped tinned tomatoes
- 2tbsp tomato puree
- 400ml bechamel sauce (home made or a jar)
Method
- Coat the aubergine slices in oil and fry on each side until softened, set aside on kitchen paper to dry, par boil the potato slices for 5 minutes then set aside to dry.
- Add the mince to a pan and cook until brown, add the onions and cook further until softened.
- Add the moussaka mince mix and stir until combined, add the water/stock and stir again, bring to the boil.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato puree and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until thickened.
- In a casserole dish, layer the meat mixture, aubergine and potato like you would a lasagne, top with the bechamel and oven bake for 50-60 mins or until golden brown.
